When We Practice
All classes are held at the Hillsboro Old Stone School in Loudoun County and are open to all ages 8+. New students are welcome to observe any class and your first class is always free!
Monday: Intro & Progressive Track
Students are welcome to attend one or both classes.
A structured beginner course running April through May. Each week builds on the last, covering posture, basic movement, and the fundamentals of Bodymind Oneness in a supportive, low-pressure environment.
This is a structured course in progress — new drop-ins are not able to join mid-session. Want to try your first class? Wednesday's 7:15–8:00 PM Foundations Focus is the best place to start.
Building on the principles learned in the Foundations classes, this class explores how to maintain Bodymind Oneness while in motion and interacting with one or more partners. We apply our basics to more complex situations and techniques while developing rhythm, control, and power.
Who is it for? Students familiar with the basics and feel ready to train in a more dynamic environment.
What to expect: Higher energy and an emphasis on adapting to changing circumstances.
Wednesday: The Core Curriculum
Students are welcome to attend one or both classes.
This class is the bedrock of our practice. We slow things down to focus on the precise details of Ki Aikido—posture, eye-line, and the spacing-all while practicing the Oneness of Bodymind. You will learn the full suite of individual forms (hitori waza) as well as the fundamental techniques of Ki Aikido.
All ages, all levels. It is the starting point for beginners and the "tune-up" classes for advanced students refining their basics.
What to expect: Moderate pace, detailed instruction, and a focus on stability, clarity, and calmness.
